Following a successful ski racing career that included two NCAA Championship Skiing titles with the University of Colorado, the Aspen native began his coaching profession with the U.S. Ski Team. During his tenure with the National Team, Gary coached American athletes at over 50 World Cup competitions, 30 Europa Cup competitions, 3 World Championships, the Olympic Winter Games and numerous National Championships. His list of athletes includes Olympic Champions Bill Johnson and Tommy Moe, World Championship medalist Doug Lewis and World Cup winners AJ Kitt and Kyle Rasmussen.
During the 2014 / 2015 season, Gary coached the U. S. Women’s World Cup Tech Team, which included Mikaela Shiffrin, Resi Steigler and Paula Moltzan. Collectively, these three extraordinary ladies amassed 15 victories, a World Slalom Championship (Mikaela), a World Junior Slalom Championship (Paula), a World Cup Slalom Title (Mikaela) and a National Slalom Title (Mikaela). As a very select group of USSA Level 500 coaches in America, Gary is articulate, detail oriented, humorous and likes to have fun working with skiers of all ability levels.
