Ken & Ruth Scott

Ski Coaches

Ken Scott spent his early years on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada, where he developed a love of the outdoors while fishing with his grandfather on the waters surrounding the island.

Ruth Scott grew up in the Salt Lake City area and was dedicated to ballet, dance & choreography, carrying this grace into life skills as she transitioned into skiing, hiking and biking in the Wasatch mountains.

Outdoor sports and activities have dominated this dynamic duo over the past 35 years. Whitewater rafting, kayaking, skiing, and snowboarding have been both personal pursuits and vocations. Together, they have a daughter and three grandchildren – all of whom were on snow with Ken and Ruth learning to ski by the age of 2. With a passion for sharing their favorite winter activity with both family, friends and clients, Ken and Ruth are Zen masters when it comes to teaching skiers of any ability level.

Both Ken and Ruth are Ski Industry veterans for over 30 years.

Ken has worked as a professional ski patroller doing winter emergency care and avalanche control work, a PSIA certified instructor in both alpine and snowboard disciplines, a manufactures rep for Rossignol snowboards and Elan skis covering the territory of Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and Alaska.

Ruth has run ski education programs at Stevens Pass Ski Resort in Washington, Grand Targhee Resort in Wyoming, and has also been Base Area Manager, overseeing ski school, guest services, mountain hosts, as well as F&B, rental, retail, and ticketing for more than a decade. Ruth is widely regarded as “The Anxiety Whisperer,” with teaching skills developed to help clients relax and enjoy the wonderful sport of skiing.

In addition to guiding and coaching with Alpin Luxe, Ken and Ruth work with clients at the exclusive Yellowstone Club in Big Sky Montana. Basic
